There are a 2 main ways to add your existing project budget into Rabbet.

Option 1: Template Upload

The first and fastest way to get your budget into Rabbet is to use the Rabbet xlsx. template. This can be downloaded from Rabbet in the project creation flow or from a project that has been created but has not yet had a budget uploaded. The template can be downloaded HERE

Users should take their existing projects budgets and copy and paste over the appropriate columns to the temple.

2) Input the <Line Item Number> (optional) - this can be any number to describe the line items in the Division. This field is optional. If you are not tracking line item numbers, leave this field blank or remove the column.

3) Input the Summary Line Item (optional) - this can any alphanumeric string you want to use to group your line items differently than they are already grouped by Division, Category, or Master Format Division.

4) Input the <Line Item Name> (required) - this can be any name to describe the project costs that are included in the budgeted amount. Common examples are: Legal Fees, Electrical, Land Purchase.

5) Input the <Original Budget Amount> (required) - note that the budgeted amount for each line item can be later updated in Rabbet through reallocations or changes to the total project budget.

6) Input the <Line Item Category> (optional) - select from the available values in the dropdown list. Only 1 category per line.

7) Input the Expected Retainage (optional) - any value that represents a percentage (e.g. 10%, 0.1, 10/100, any number (X) less than 100 will be interpreted as X/100).

8) Input the Master Format Division (optional) - select from the available values in the dropdown list.

Important Notes:

  • Remove all subtotals and totals from the columns on the template. Enter only the line item values.

  • Not every column needs to be completed on the template BUT there are required columns for the template to upload successfully these are: Division Name, Line Item Name, and Original Budget Amount.

  • Do NOT leave blank rows in the columns Division Name and Line Item Name. This will cause the template not to upload.

This is an example of how the template will look after you copy and paste the required information.
